The decision to procure a CCW should never be taken lightly, especially if you plan to carry a firearm everywhere you go. Slate magazine published a story yesterday entitled “The Myth of the Good Guy With a Gun”. In it, the authors insinuate that anyone intending to protect themselves and others with a firearm is simply wasting their time. That the statistical evidence proves that the more guns that exist, the more gun deaths there are. Except that they left off a few important glaring facts.

Florida Tries To Expand Gun Rights to College Campuses

Currently under the Florida CC laws, there are certain limitations to where you may carry. Schools - all schools - are on the no carry list. As are bars, etc. If you are a concealed carry person, you already know where you cannot carry in your state. But with criminals seeming to actually target these "gun free zones", more and more states are considering an alteration to their existing laws that would extend them to at least a college campus.

Florida's House Bill 4005 would do just that, and it has already cleared the House and heads to the Senate for debate. If you are a Florida resident, I would jump on the phone and start calling in support.

This change would allow any concealed carry permit holder the ability to carry onto a campus in order to protect yourself from horrible acts of violence like what happened at FSU.

If passed, Florida will be the 8th state to allow such a measure.

Better Hide Your Gun!

Yesterday, some real poop for brains got himself arrested. Deservedly so. And his story is a great example of why all of us concealed carry practitioners need to make doubly sure that we conceal and hide our weapons well. Be it clothing choices, inside the waistband, outside the waistband, appendix carry, special clothing designed specifically for hiding guns, or habits designed to camouflage the fact that we are packing. We need to make sure the general public is completely clueless.

Welcome to Guns And Wammo

What does the Wammo mean? Waa waa waa. Imagine the sound of a big ole' baby whining. Cuz' that's me. In this blog, I plan on whining quite a bit. Whining because the Government is trying to take away my rights as a gun owner, restrict me in some fashion, or drive up costs to make it so I cannot afford my new hobby.

I also plan on whining about how horrible my shot groups are, why .300 Blackout ammo is so expensive, and how come Walmart never has .22 ammo in stock.

Yeah, this is a new hobby. Not that I am new to guns, by any stretch of the imagination. I am not. I am a dyed in the wool southern boy that grew up around them, with a Grandfather that taught me marksmanship, gun safety, and how to reload.

But over the last 20 years, I kind of let it sit on the wayside. To busy with other things. Just was not that important.

Then something happened in my small town that made me freak out a little bit.
